Mary C. Blount
POCATELLO - Mary C. Blount, 72, Pocatello, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2010.
She was born November 23, 1937, at National City, California, to John Vincent and Beatrice Mary Cedillo Dolan.
She married Charles Werner Blount at Riverside, California, in 1960, and they were later divorced in 1986.
Mary studied art at the University of Georgia and Idaho State University. She was committed to art for children and adults, creating art activities for her grandchildren and for people at the Activities Center in Pocatello.
Mary was a lifelong community volunteer and activist, helping to start an integrated day care children's center in Athens, Georgia. She supported the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, lobbying for fair treatment of the mentally ill.
The joys of her life were her grandchildren, baking biscotti and cookies for her friends and family, classical music, and gardening. She was proud of the ribbons she won at the county fair for her baked goods and garden produce.
She is survived by four children, Ralph (Janel) Blount of Boise, Idaho, Steven Blount of Pocatello, Abe (Sally) Blount of Melba, Idaho, and Katherine Blount of Boise; six grandchildren; three brothers, Tom Dolan, John Joseph Dolan, and Danny Dolan; and a sister, Lorraine Dolan. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be held Friday, August 13, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the First Congregational Church, 309 N. Garfield, Pocatello, with the Reverend Roger Bray officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services in the church Friday.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello. Online guest book and condolences available at
