Walter E. Jensen
POCATELLO - Walter E. Jensen, 77, passed away at the Idaho State Veteran's Home in Pocatello, Idaho, on January 13, 2013.
He was born August 25, 1935, in Battle Creek, Iowa, and moved with his family to Deitrich, Idaho, as a young boy. Walter served in the United States Army, retired after 21 years in the Pocatello Police department, and worked for 11 years as a security officer at Bannock Memorial Hospital.
Walter liked people. He enjoyed working with the public and had many adventures in his 21 years as a law enforcement officer, like hunting grizzly bears in downtown Pocatello in the middle of the night. He also had a great appreciation of antiques and never failed to stop at a yard sale or antique shop.
Walter was a great inspiration to his friends and family; his loving manner and willingness to regale all with his stories and quick wit was a source of comfort and joy.
Walter is survived by his wife, Carol Jensen, Pocatello; children, Michelle (Ron) Lundberg, Michael Jensen, and daughter-in-law, Debbie Johnson; siblings, Lester (Veloy) Jensen, Ardelle (Robert) Gust, Arlene (Roger) Greenough, Ronald (Toni) Jensen; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Hattie Jensen, his son, Mark, and his brother, Wilbert.
No public services will be held at this time.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello, 232-0542. Condolences may be sent to the family online at
