Josephine Estrada Obituary

Josephine Cerda Estrada.
POCATELLO - Josephine Cerda Estrada, 98, longtime Pocatello resident, passed away due to natural causes on August 2, 2007.
She was the second child in a family of five born to lifelong Pocatello residents. Dario and Concha Cerda. She was gifted with an operatic voice which was further perfected by her father, an educated maestro. She attended schools in Pocatello. She inherited her mother's exceptional culinary skills and was known at times to create a delicious meal in seconds. She was an excellent seamstress.
Her hobbies included embroidering, knitting, crocheting and gardening. She enjoyed dancing most and appreciated the music of her time. She was a staunch Catholic and prayed the rosary daily.
She is survived by a daughter, Bertha Maravilla, a brother. Leonard Cerda, a brother-in-law, Frank Rodriguez, five grandchildren, Jo Rita, Nina, Abel, Lewis, Darrell (Kita) Maravilla, seven great-grandchildren Annalisa Skidmore, Erica (David) Christensen, Joe (Jeanie), Albert, Nathan, Raquel and Andre Maravilla, four great-great-grandchildren Marianolee and Elena Skidmore, Taylor Christensen, Macy Jo Maravilla and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dario and Concha Cerda, her sisters, Esther Cerda (Joe) Montejano, Rojelia Cerda (Manuel) Porras and Julia Rodriguez, a grandson, Albert Maravilla and her former husband, Julian Estrada.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Community, St. Anthony's Chapel, Pocatello, Idaho. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be one hour prior to Mass at the church. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Downard Funeral Home.
