Garry Ault Obituary
Garry Owen Ault
1939 ~ 2017
Garry Ault, 78, passed away in his sleep on Tues., Dec. 26, 2017.
Garry was born the last of four children to Herschel and Velma (Colwell) Ault on Nov. 30, 1939 in St Helens, OR. The family moved around during WWII, and Garry had fond memories of this time on the coast. The Aults settled in Willamina, OR. Garry was active in drama, band, and yearbook before graduating from Willamina High in 1958.
Garry enlisted in the Navy. While he was in the service, he married Sonja Erickson from McMinnville. Garry and Sonja had three daughters: Susan, Kimberly, and Debra. In 1967, the family moved to Boise so that he could work for his sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Harvey, at Miller's Sew and Vac. Later, the couple separated and moved back to OR.
In time, Garry was transferred back to Boise by Zieman Manufacturing. Garry met Sandy Aylsworth in a church K-group in early 1974. They were married at Red Rock Christian Church on Nov. 23, 1974. Garry and Sandy enjoyed the church and trips to see family - especially Garry's daughters and the beach.
In 1980, Garry and Sandy bought All Makes Vacuum and welcomed their daughter Seanna. He was a proud small business owner and loved being 'the vacuum man.' They sold the shop and retired in 2011.
From a young age, Garry was a proud Democrat and an active volunteer. He was thrilled when District 17 flipped blue. Garry loved long and loud talks with his sister, Jessie, about all things political. Garry's CB handle was "Cinnamon Bear." Family and friends can attest Garry was unrestrained in his lifelong love of bright plaids.
Garry was a member of Kuna Grange and led work raising money for public television. Garry and Sandy were active at Red Rock; Garry focused on the men's group, serving as elder, and sharpening to raise camp funds.
Garry was preceded in death by his wife Sandy, brother Erwin and sister Margaret Miller. He is survived by sister Jessie Clements; daughters Susan Ault (Steve Wong), Kim Ault, Debbie Williams (Andy), and Seanna (Dylan Stark); grandchildren Devon and Tia Williams; and nephew Garry Clements.
A memorial service will take place Sat., Jan. 20, 1:00pm, at Red Rock Christian Church (address below). In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to RRCC Camper Fund, 1124 S. Roosevelt, Boise, ID 83705.
