Merrilee J. Brownell Obituary
Merrilee J. Brownell
September 5, 1945 - July 18, 2018
Merrilee was a loving mother, teacher and friend with a warm smile and many creative gifts. She grew up in Renton, WA as the only daughter of Jack and Elsie Marchetti. She received her Bachelors in Education from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, her Masters from Northwestern University in Evanston, and completed her Doctoral and School Psychologist credentialing course work at the University of Oregon in Eugene.
Working as a psychologist and teacher in the California and Idaho public school districts, Merrilee dedicated her professional career to the education of special needs children. She finished her career with the Boise School District working for many years as a psychologist and a special education teacher. In those capacities she worked tirelessly to improve the lives of her students and made many good friends.
Merrilee was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren and often called them her greatest accomplishment. She made them the best Halloween costumes, softest hats and mittens and beautiful quilts. She loved to read, watch historical dramas and cuddle on the couch with her dogs. She is survived by her son Sean (Lisa) Brownell, daughters Samantha (Tim) Moore, Shannon (James) Bruns, Miranda (Dave) Haustveit, Desiree (Mike) Trueba and her grandchildren. She requested that no services be held. Donations in her name can be made to the Idaho Humane Society or Special Olympics.
