Patricia Nell Delaney
1949 - 2018
Patti Delaney, 68, of Richland, Washington passed away August 4, 2018. Patti was born December 10, 1949 in Spokane, Washington. Patti grew up in Spokane with two older brothers, a close family and grandparents, and attended an active church, Emanuel Baptist Church, in north Spokane. While living in Spokane, Patti completed school through 10th grade, attending Lynnwood Grade School, Saulk Jr. High, and 9th and 10th grades at North Central High School. Her family moved the last two years of high school and Patti attended 11th grade in Orofino, Idaho and 12th grade in Dayton, Washington. Patti attended college and received a Registered Nursing degree from Lewis & Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho. In 1971 she married Joe Delaney. Working careers led to moving around the country where Patti worked as an RN in a number of locations. Patti loved nursing and enjoyed helping/healing others. Before retiring in Richland, Washington, Patti enjoyed working for Dr. Albertini as a pediatrician nurse for about 10 years. Growing up and working, Patti met and made many close friends. She raised two children (Margo Showers of Boise, ID & Dan Delaney of Alamo, CA). Patti loved her children and the grandchildren to come which she would do anything for and gave generously to each one. Family and friends meant the most to Patti & she enjoyed activities and trips with them as often as she could. As grandchildren came along, Patti was given the nick name Grandma Cakes which stuck.
Patti's interests included decorating around the house especially for all the holidays which she loved and house plants & flowers. She liked hobbies, art and crafts, and a weekly sewing group with friends. She liked outdoor activities, bicycling, hiking, & had on her resume a ride in a hot air balloon. Patti enjoyed reading and liked traveling. Patti liked fitness and enjoyed fitness classes & swimming.
Patti was preceded in death by her father Leo Faris, her mother Myrtle Faris (Boots), her step father Pete Selzler, and grandparents. She is survived by her husband Joe Delaney, her daughter Margo Showers & son Dan Delaney, her brothers Larry Faris and Loren Faris, and grandchildren.
