Daniela "Dee" Bronzy
1946 - 2017
Daniela "Dee" Bronzy, age 70, died last Thursday of natural causes at her home outside McCall, ID. Born June 8, 1946 in Dunbar, West Virginia to Dan and Barbara Collier, where she grew up as 'coal miner's daughter'. At the age of 18, she met and married Ernest Bronzy and moved to McCall, Idaho where her husband contracted for Boise Cascade doing various jobs in the lumber industry, while Dee volunteered at the local school and library. Widowed at the age of 26, she remained in the same house for 44 years as a widow, taking in her 'strays' on occasion when the church called. After a brief stint as a secretary before a disabling car accident, she spent her days thinking and writing. Her few close friends checked in on her weekly especially her savior, Father Simon who made a special trip to visit her every week for 'Homily Thursdays', where they would work together on Father Simon's traveling mass homily and Dee would cook (or order in) dinner for the two of them. Dee was a regular for Sunday mass until her disability kept her home permanently the last several years of her life. During her isolated time alone, she penned at least one complete novel and illustrated and wrote several children's books in various stages of completion, none of which were discovered or known of until after her death. She was the last known survivor of her small family. A private ceremony in McCall took place on March 6th for her closest friends. A public remembrance and celebration will be held in Boise, March 21th, 3pm at the Kathryn Albertson Park. In lieu of donations, she wished for flowers be sent to the women of Rose Haven of McCall Assisted Living (700 Reedy Ln. McCall, ID 83638) in her name.
