Retha Ellen Grubb, age 79, passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018 at the Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion.
Mrs. Grubb was born in Grayson County, to the late Clydie and Beatrice Johnson and was preceded in death by her sisters, Shirley Walton and Pansy Brown and her brother Clifton Johnson. She worked at DG Moulding's, Marley Moulding's and retired from Royal Moulding's after 38 years of service. She attended Brookside Baptist Church in Sugar Grove and loved listening to Preacher Don and Preacher David. She enjoyed spending time with her family, camping and horseback riding. She was an amazing mother and grandmother. She loved dearly and had many special friends, to include the Troutdale Rescue Squad, where she volunteered.
Survivors include her son, James Grubb and wife Niecie of Green Cove; her daughters, Angie Robinson and husband Ronnie of Troutdale, and Debbie Weaver of Troutdale; her brother, J.B. Johnson and wife Janie of Troutdale; her grandchildren, Brandon Grubb and wife Lishia of Troutdale, Brian Robinson and special friend Stephanie of Marion, and Chris Weaver of Troutdale; great grandchildren, Michael and Levi Grubb; step grandchildren, Logan Walls and wife Kayla of Chilhowie, and Kayla Walls of Whitetop; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 20, 2018 from the Bradley's Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor David Medley officiating. Interment will follow in the Grubb Young Cemetery in Grayson County. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. prior to services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Grubb Young Cemetery Fund, 23591 Saw Mill RD Damascus, VA 24236.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Troutdale Rescue Squad and Rugby Rescue Squad for all the care given to Mrs. Grubb.
