Edward L. (Bill) Shaw, age 94, born June 22, 1924, in Lowndesville, SC to Minnie Shaw Hanks and Edward Shaw, entered the heavenly gospel choir on September 7, 2018. Bill was married to the former Wilma Pickens Shaw. He is survived by three of his four children, Susan Lister (Richard) and Bob Shaw, both of Anderson, SC and Steve Shaw of Florida. He was predeceased by his daughter Lori Shaw and brother Calmer Shaw. He is also survived by grandchildren Richard Lister (Anna), Jeremy Lister, and Jonathan Lister (Alex); Natalie, Ryan, and Anna Shaw; and Preston Doyle; two great-grandchildren, Owen and Ben Lister; and a stepbrother, Robert Hanks, Jr.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 16, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at Forest Hill Baptist Church, 909 Plantation Road, Anderson, SC, and will be conducted by Reverend Richard Lister, Pastor of Electric City Fellowship.

Bill began his professional career in Southern Gospel Music singing tenor for the Blackwood Brothers Quartet in 1952. He was later inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and was a recipient of the Living Legend Award in Southern Gospel Music. In addition to being an accomplished singer, he also wrote several songs. In his later years, he continued sharing his gift of music ministry by singing regularly at nursing/assisted living homes in the Anderson area. In his final hours he continued singing and recalled a popular song for the Blackwood Brothers, "I'm Redeemed" and added for himself that he was redeemed because of the Lord Jesus Christ.
