Sue Hicks Obituary

Sue Ellen Hicks

Anderson - Sue Ellen "MeMe" Norris Hicks, age 71, of Anderson, SC, and beloved wife of Rev. C.W. Hicks, went Home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 23, 2021.

She was born September 22, 1949 in Anderson, SC, and was the daughter of Betty Jean Porter Burnette and the late Howard Wesley Norris.

Sue Ellen was a 1967 graduate of McDuffie High School. For many years, she worked for the Larry Rowland Insurance Agency but her passion for helping everyone look their best led her to open her own store, The Looking Glass, which operated for over 20 years. More recently, she along with her daughter, sold Paparazzi Jewelry. First and foremost, Sue Ellen was a pastor's wife for over 40 years and had a genuine love for people. Her family and friends meant the world to her and she loved them fully and whole heartedly. Being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt brought her so much joy. Sue Ellen and her husband enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach and taking cruises and she was a member of Crossway Community Church.

Including her husband, C.W., those left to cherish her memory are her beloved daughters, Shannan Holland (John David) and Kristi Kinley (Patrick) both of Anderson, SC; sisters, Beth Anne Griffin (Horace) of Anderson, SC, and Michelle Holt (Jamie) of Greer, SC; brothers, Greg and Tim Norris both of Anderson, SC; grandchildren, Makenzie Kimble (Clayton), Baylee Slaton (Timothy), Jamison and Ellison Walker, Kylie and Kortney Kinley; and great-granddaughters, Jade Owens, and Sawyer Slaton. Also surviving are many loved nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, and many special friends.

The family will receive friends Thursday, February 25, 2021, from 6:00-8:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Friday, February 26, 2021, at 3:30 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be her husband, Rev. C.W. Hicks, along with Rev. Randy Phillips. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.

Flowers accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Crossway Community Church, P.O. Box 268, Sandy Springs, SC 29677.
