Lucile Heppner
Lucile Legge Heppner passed away peacefully at her home in Morningside of College Park in Indianapolis on November 23rd at the age of 101.
Lucy, as her many friends called her, was born October 13, 1911 in Elgin, Illinois, graduated from Elgin High School in 1930 and married Elmore Arthur Heppner in 1935. They raised 4 beautiful daughters: Susan Wegl, Linda Claffey, Nancy Cotterill and Sally Mayhill in Round Lake, Illinois where Mr. Heppner launched and built a successful electronics business.
She and her beloved husband, "Hep", celebrated 58 years of marriage before he went to the Lord in 1993. They were blessed with nine grandchildren: Laura Wegl Kitsos, Rebecca Claffey Polak, Ann Wegl Ciosek, Sarah Claffey Wierman, Chris Cotterill, Emily Mayhill Shoop, Jon Claffey, Tom Mayhill, and Ted Cotterill, and are survived by 12 great grandchildren with a 13th on the way,
She volunteered her time and resources throughout her life. She was one of the founders of the Round Lake Library, a multi-term elder of the Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school for 20 years and spent 16 years organizing groups and helping to raise funds for the PTA, Band Boosters and other school related organizations. She was an avid gardener, antiques collector, cook, a devoted wife to her husband, and loving mother to her daughters all of her life.
Services will be held on Tuesday at 2:30 at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church with calling from 12:30 to 2:30 at the Church. Burial will follow the ceremony at Oaklawn Memorial Garden next to her beloved husband. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Orchard Park Presbyterian Church.
