Mr. McCormack was an amazing person who touched so many young lives in a positive way. Myself among the many beneficiaries of his mentorship. Without a doubt he was one of the more important role models in my life. Eighth grade football with Coach had a big impact on the values I still hold today. My heartfelt sympathies to the McCormack family during this difficult time. He was a very special person and we are all better off with the positive impact he had on our lives.

To Dave's loving family,
As a mom who visited the middle school often for the PTO activities and also as a substitute teacher, I always got a smile whenever I was near the hallway (not the classroom) where Dave was teaching. His voice would resonate down that hall...and you could tell his pupils were listening to their teacher. Well, as some middle school kids don't always "listen", they certainly were not asleep!! Dave was one of the bright stars of our Zionsville faculties. I am sure he was a wonderful husband, dad, and grandpa. May he rest in peace and may you cherish his memories!

You were an inspiring force in my life and with your help and kind patience you helped me overcome a huge hurdle. I admired you then, I still admire you now and have often spoken of you to others in nothing less than always a positive light. I never realised you were only ten years older than myself. In my eyes, you were ageless and Oh, so very, very wise. May your God rest your soul eternally with the peace and clarity you brought to others every day.

Dave McCormack taught me 8th grade algebra and he was the kind of teacher who makes me want to be a better teacher. He cared about ALL of his students, not just the bright, popular & athletic ones. He was funny, smart & charismatic. I remember crying about doing poorly on a test and he came to my locker and made me laugh and told me it was no big deal and I had plenty of time to make it up. He was REAL and I am so sad for his wife, daughters & grandchildren!!!
