David Hyndman Obituary

David Eugene Hyndman

91, of Indianapolis, passed away on December 2, 2012. He was born on October 5, 1921 in Hillsdale, MI to Robin Wayne and Edith Provines Hyndman. He spent most of his growing up years in Canton, Illinois but also lived in Bloomington, Indiana before graduating from Springfield High School in Springfield, Illinois.

David is the third of four sons. His brothers James Hugh (Bonnie Blanch Smothers), John Robert (Mary Christine Weinland) and Lee Alan (Ann Elizabeth Burger, living) preceded him in death.

David and Viola Mae England were married on November 8, 1942 in Chalmers, Indiana. They were blessed with two daughters, Margaret 'Marge' Elaine (Michael Edward McKeon) and Susan Kay. Viola passed away on October 1, 1977. His second wife, Mary McRee, passed away in August 2007. He is survived by his two daughters and grandsons, Brian and Kevin McKeon.

David graduated from Indiana University in the Spring of 1942. He served in the Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946.

David' s first civilian job was with Hooks Drug Company. After several other jobs, including Krogers and as a Sunoco service station owner, he attended Indiana Central College earning Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Elementary Education. He taught for Indianapolis Public Schools for twenty-two years retiring in 1985. After retiring he did volunteer work for Meals on Wheels, Perry Senior Citizens, Boy Scouts, and several other organizations.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 4, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home , 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, IN. Funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. in Faith United Church of Christ, 4040 East Thompson Road, Indianapolis, with calling there from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. David will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith United Church of Christ.
