Martha I. Burk
90, of Sumter, SC formerly of Evansville, IN went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 26, 2012 at McElveen Manor in Sumter, SC.
She was born in Chicago, IL on August 15, 1922 to Rev. John and Margaret Cummins. She was a member of Sumter Baptist Temple, Sumter, SC and a former member of First Southern Baptist Church in Evansville, IN.
Martha loved music, serving as church organist at several churches for many years. Growing up, she sang in a quartet with her three sisters. Quilting was one of her hobbies and her family was the recipient of her handiwork. Many family vacations were spent camping and upon retirement, she and her husband enjoyed spending their time at Myrtle Beach, SC.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim of 54 years, granddaughter Gina Schenck, sisters Vivian Morris, Ruperta Frye, Mary Woods and a brother, John Cummins.
Martha is survived by a son, Stan (Elaine) Burk of Sumter, SC; daughters Becky (Steve) Schenck of Indianapolis and Gretchen (Ronn) Dunn of Evansville; grandchildren Rev. Aaron Burk, Jim, Scott and Andy Schenck; Julie Garvin; Jason Dunn; and Alison Mayes; great-grandchildren Olivia, Addison, Evelyn, Charlie, Sam, and Noah Schenck; McKenna McDonald; Conley and Zachary Burk; Luke Garvin; Amelia Mayes and nieces and a nephew.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 1,2012, at First Southern Baptist Church, 80 W. Cullen Ave., Evansville, IN with Revs. Aaron Burk and Joe Mayes officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, November 30, 2012, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Ziemer Funeral Home East, 800 S. Hebron, Evansville, IN and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Memorial contributions in memory of Martha may be made to The Anchorage Christian Youth Camp. P.O. Box 126, Lake Waccamaw, NC 28450.

Sorry to hear of your Mom`s passing. My family and I enjoyed attending Mill Road Baptist Church with your family.
Having buried both my 1st Wife, Alma Dean and my 2nd wife Marilou, I do know how to and will pray for you during this difficult time.
