Donald Lee Deer

85, of Indianapolis, passed away November 24, 2012. He was born March 4, 1927 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Russell and Anna Deer.

Donald entered the United States Merchant Marines when he was 17 and worked for Army transport. He was stationed in Alaska for 18 months then went into Army, 82nd Airborne, for two years, stationed in North Carolina. He worked at High Grades for 18 years, then went to Ford Motor Company for 22 years, retiring in 1989.

He is survived by sons, Gary Deer and Terry L. Deer; daughters, Brenda Gibson and Debra Arnett; brothers, David Deer, Larry Deer, and Russell Deer; sisters, Betty Lou Suter, Shirley Neeley, and Sue Gootee; twelve grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 54 years, Ruth Bauchle Deer; son, Don Deer; brothers, James Deer and Gene Deer

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Charity Tabernacle Chapel, 2700 Tibbs Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46241. Memorial contributions may be made in Donald's name to FACE Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic, 1505 Massachusetts Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46201.
