Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Schaible

92, former Fishers resident, died at 12:20 a.m. on February 12, 2013 in Westminster Village, Lafayette. She was born on December 19, 1920 in Hammond, IN to Maynard Harrison and Mary Ann (Beckett) Smith. She married Ernst Lennox Schaible in December 1942 in Hammond and he preceded her in death in 1986.

Mrs. Schaible was a 1938 graduate of Hammond High School and attended Monticello College for Women in Godfrey, IL. She was a homemaker and travel agent. She started traveling in 1958 with her husband and traveled extensively throughout the world. After his death, she continued her travels. She was a longtime member of St. John's Episcopal Church, over 50 year member of Art Museum of Greater Lafayette, member of the Thursday Club, and was known as Miss Witherfield in the Pickwick Club.

Survivors include one son, David Smith (Patricia) Schaible of Danville, CA; three daughters, Sara C. (Chet) Hickox of West Kingston, RI, Mary Ann (John) Lee of Frankfort, Elizabeth "Liz" (Henry Gueron) Schaible of New York, NY; eight grandchildren, Russell Hornback, Tracy Duddy, Seth Hornback, Marcus Schaible, Jason Schaible, Ryan Hickox, Wesley Hickox and Alexander Gueron and 5 great-grandchildren, including Liam Niall, John "Jack" Beckett and Cameron Lennox Duddy, all of Fishers.

Services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 15, 2013 at the St. John's Episcopal Church, 600 Ferry St., Lafayette, IN. The family will receive friends following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations to be made to the St. John's Episcopal Church or the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette.
