Ray J. Reeser

Ray J. Reeser

91, of Pendleton, IN, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2013. A member of "The Greatest Generation," Ray was an Army veteran of World WarII serving in Yukon, Alaska. Following graduation from Shortridge High School and Indiana Business College, Ray worked as a distribution manager for Stokely Van Camp, retiring after 32 years of service.

Upon retirement, Ray and his beautiful wife Helen began a 35 year tradition of traveling to Fort Myers, Florida, where they would spend the winter months, migrating back to their Indiana roots each summer. Mr. Reeser loved spending quality time with his family, a priority throughout his life. As his family grew Ray, Helen and the boys would spend many days camping where he seemed to make friends at every campsite. Although Ray enjoyed many family gatherings at Smith Mountain Lake, his greatest enjoyment came at the cabin, built by himself and his two sons located on Lake Monroe. The cabin was the ideal place to enjoy his two favorite hobbies of fishing and boating. In addition, Ray loved hosting several gatherings, Fellowship of Christian Athletes from Lawrence Township. An avid Colts fan, Ray also loved watching his two sons play football for Lawrence Central and became one of Lawrence North's most loyal fans.

A lifelong member of the Methodist faith, Ray would volunteer time as a member of the Pendleton Historical Society. Ray genuinely loved life, evident to anyone who met him and witnessed his great sense of humor!

Ray's love for his family was endless and he will be forever missed. Ray is survived by Helen Reeser, his wife of 67 years; sons, Doug (Deb) Reeser and Randy (Pat) Reeser; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
