A.R. "Sandy" Baker, Jr. 81, died July 28, 2010 at his home at The Stratford at West Clay, Carmel, IN. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 1 o'clock p.m. at Second Presbyterian Church, 7700 N. Meridian, Indianapolis, IN 46260. Mr. Baker was born August 20, 1928 in White Plains, NY, to the late Ruey and Nell Orr Baker. He graduated from Amherst College in 1950 and later served in the United States Army. He and his family settled in Indianapolis in 1964. He retired in 1993 after a 29 year career with Huber Hunt and Nichols, Inc. He was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church and enjoyed golfing, his lake house, volunteering for the Sertoma Group and his many friends at The Stratford. Mr. Baker is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Hoyt Baker; and his sons, Stephen H. Baker (Barbara), West Chester, OH, Robert O. Baker (Katie), Indianapolis, IN and Thomas A. (Tab) Baker (Debbie) of Gilbert, AZ; and 8 grandchildren, Andrew, Brent, Kelly, Brandon, Ryan, Alison, Nicole and Chad. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent Foundation or the Broad Ripple Sertoma. Arrangements are with Crown Hill Funeral Home. www.crownhill.org
