Floyd L. Cox

Passed away September 12, 2013. He was born February 16, 1922 in Cando, ND to Lawrence and Lilas Anderson Cox. They moved to Wabash, IN in 1925 where his father preceded him in death in 1927. He and his mother moved to Huntington, IN, where he graduated from Huntington High School in 1940.

He served as a naval aviator in WWII from 1942 through 1945. His Step-Father, Donald Anglemyre, preceded him in death in 1949, and his mother in 1965.

After the war, he attended Indiana University where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and where he met his future wife, Marian Tirmenstein. He left IU when she graduated in 1947 and both were employed at Eli Lilly & Co. They were married July 5, 1947 and he completed his education at Butler University. They were married 56 years when she preceded him in death in 2004.

He retired from Lilly in 1984 after 37 years in Industrial Relations and then worked 17 years as a Broker Associate in Real Estate before retiring in 2001.

He was a long time member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church where he held many offices, including twice as President of the Congregation.

He is survived by sons, Stephen of Noblesville IN and Kenneth (Barbara) of Woodbury MN; daughter, Nancy Wilcher of Indianapolis; as well as grandchildren, Jennifer (Patrick) Murphy, Christopher Cox, Colleen (John Paul) Phillippe, Elliot Cox, Eva Cox, Kyle Wilcher and great-grandchildren, Kieran and Quinn Murphy.

Friends may call Tuesday September 17, 2013 from 11 am-1 pm at Flanner and Buchanan-Washington Park North 2706 Kessler Blvd West Drive Indianapolis, Indiana 46228. Funeral service will follow at 1pm. Entombment will be in Washington Park North Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. You may express a condolence or a memory of Floyd at
