Frances D. Rhome

Frances Dodson Rhome Mrs. Rhome, an outstanding ambassador of the arts, died Sun. morning, March 16, 2008, in Springfield, VA. Born April 16, 1916, in Tucumcari, NM, Frances was a Hoosier by choice and Democrat since birth. Frances earned her Ph.D. from I.U. in 1969. Frances was Professor Emeritus of English and past-Executive Director of the Institute for Humanities Research IUPUI, and member, National Endowment of the Humanities 1979-1988. Service included President, Indiana Women's Political Caucus 1975-1977 and Member, Executive Committees, Indianapolis Art League 1985-1996. Frances is survived by her son, Robert Charles Rhome; daughter-in-law, Anne; grandson, Robert P. Rhome, and five great grandsons.
