Jim was an excellent Doctor, and had a bedside manner to match. Very caring, especially to those diagnosed with Hiv. He was my Doctor for many years, and I will always miss him. Rest in peace, my friend, and thank you for everything. What an incredible Human Being, Hugs.

Jim was my doctor for 15 + years and throughout my career, I was his Office Manager for several years until our lives took diverging paths. I remained a patient and Jim helped me through some of the worst years of my life.

Jim's genuine support, loving care, and kindness were qualities that he had for anyone. But, after my partner of 13 years was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, Jim was there for me every step of the way.

He will be truly missed and my thoughts, and prayers go out to his family and friends. Jim was a great man with so much heart and soul, his passing is a profound loss that touches each of us in a unique way.

Rest in Peace my good friend.

Dr. LeGrand,
I will miss you so. I was a patient over 20 years ago and lost you when your practice changed. After an extensive internal search I found you, called, and asked if you would take me on as a patient again. You said yes and I was extremely thankful. Over the past few years you have helped me immensely. I remember you saying that you couldn't believe I followed you and that I drove the distance from Kokomo to see you. I told you it was because I believed in you... thank you for taking such good care of me. I hope I find someone as yourself to keep me healthy. My last appointment was cancelled because you were in the hospital. My heart is heavy for your husband and family ❤

I met Jim when I was recruited by Christie Clinic to establish a Pulmonary Critical Care Department in 1985. Jim was a very capable and competent Internist who shared call with me and helped establish a very high caliber program.
Jim ended up leaving the clinic, and went on to expand his horizons and pursue other interests.
What is constant ,however, is that he was a very
compassionate and kind physician, very well educated, and loved his patients who in return loved him. It is no surprise that he became a Hospice and Palliative Physician, because that was the type of person he was. The world mourns the loss of a great Physician.
May his memory serve as a blessing to all who were lucky enough to know him.

Jim was my doctor and friend for nearly 25 years. When i had to move back to Ft Wayne because of a rare terminal neurological illness i still drove 2 hours because of the bond we had. I will miss him so very much.my heart goes out to his husband, son, daughter and family. He was so darn ornery and there is no doctor that could ever replace Jim. It wont be long till i join him and I know he will be there open armed with all my other family and friends. Until then, may the Angels surround him and may his family and friends remember all the wonderful memories they shared with Jim and may those memories help comfort the loss we are feeling inside.

Dr. LeGrand was among the very best clinicians I ever had the privilege of working alongside. I practiced with Jim on many cases in Campaign and his compassion and dedication were instructive. It's been 20+ years but his compassion and dedication continues to be remembered by many here in Champaign. God speed.

I knew Jim at the beginning of his professional career at Christie Clinic. He worked very long hours and took very good care of his patients. He was a loving and devoted father to Valerie and Todd. I remember poker games with him and I am happy
to report that he was a much better doctor than a poker player! When he lost a few dollars, he would say "What am i going to do about Valerie's college tuition?" What a great sense of humor he had. We have missed Jim since his move to Indianapolis but it was good to see him from time to time. My sincere condolences to Bill, Valerie and Todd.
