Kathrine Ann "Katie" Thompson Obituary
Kathrine Ann "Katie" Thompson

Indianapolis - Kathrine Ann "Katie" Thompson, 64, died on December 18, 2018 after a brief illness. Katie was born on February 19, 1954 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Robert and Jo Ann Thompson. She is survived by her brother, Stephen Thompson (Susan) and sisters, Martha ("Sis") Drane and Elizabeth ("Libby") Thompson, nephew, Matthew Drane, and nieces, Mia and Nell Thompson. Katie grew up in Indianapolis where she attended North Central High School. She graduated from Indiana University with a B.A. in Economics in 1976 and a Master of Business Administration in 1994. Katie worked for the Social Security Administration for 33 years before retiring in 2012.

Katie's reach was far, and her interests varied. She backpacked in Colorado, Nevada and the Grand Canyon with family; traveled to Senegal and Guatemala on humanitarian missions with members of the Robert Parks Methodist Church; and made three trips to China with her sister and nieces. Katie fell in love with every cat and dog she met while volunteering at the Indianapolis Humane Society. She was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts and I.U. Basketball and enjoyed attending the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and Indiana Repertory Theatre. Katie was smart, kind, funny, and generous in love and in action. All who knew her are invited to a Celebration of her Life, Saturday, February 2, 3:00 p.m. at Conner Prairie, 13400 Allisonville Rd, Fishers, Indiana. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Indianapolis Humane Society, The Nature Conservancy or Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky.
