Mahlon Waldo "Jack" Carlock
87, passed away January 11, 2014. He was raised in North Vernon, IN. He was drafted into the Army for WWII. He graduated from Indiana University majoring in Business Education. He taught business at Tech High School and then moved into the counseling department, assistant dean of boys and retired as Vice Principal. He was very involved with his church and loved working with the youth and teaching Sunday school. He also held a Realtors license, ran a tax service, and sold honey throughout Brown County, IN. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Lou Dobbs Carlock; son, Steve Carlock (Teresa); daughters, Rhena Crane (Jim) and Shawn Oertel (Greg); 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at Oakley-Hammond Funeral Home, Moore & Kirk Irvington Chapel on Monday, January 20 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation there from 11:00 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heartpoint Counseling, Calvary Baptist Church or Chapel Rock Christian Church.
