Mary Elizabeth "Bunny" Cox Allison

Indianapolis, passed away on September 24, 2011. Raised in the Irvington area, she attended Schools #87 and #85, graduating from Crispus Attucks High School. Having attended Fisk University, Nashville, TN, it was there that she became a soror of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She earned a bachelor degree from Indiana Central University (now, University of Indianapolis) and masters degree from Butler University. As a first grade teacher in the Indianapolis Public School System for 33 years, she taught at Schools #64 and #110 and was a member of the ISTA and NEA.

Bunny was a long time member of Light of the World Christian Church, the Flanner House Guild, Quettes, Metro Friends and The Fort Nightly Literary Club. Throughout the years she supported and celebrated the arts and faithfully attended Jazz on the Avenue.

On Monday, October 3, there will be a Home Going Celebration Service at 1 pm with visitation from 11am-1pm at Stuart Mortuary Chapel with entombment at Crown Hill Cemetery and Mausoleum.

She is survived by a daughter, Pamela Jo Allison-Lane and son-in-law, Reginald R. Lane; grandson, Deran F. Elmore; granddaughter, Misti R. Elmore; great grandsons, Tyree Elmore and Kenyarie McKelvin; sisters and brother-in-law, Martha "Toddy" Carlisle, Patricia "Patty" Smith, Charlene (Frederic) Bowles and Luella Burton, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
