Nancy Hypes

Zionsville - Nancy Sue (Cramer) Hypes, age 85, of Zionsville, Indiana, due to COVID complications, lost her long term battle with Multiple Sclerosis on January 5, 2021. Nancy was born in Indianapolis on February 10, 1935 to Martin and Dorothy Cramer, both of whom preceded her in death. Nancy had a brother, Dennis, who also preceded her in death, and a sister, Lisbeth, who lives in Utah. She graduated from Tech High School and later worked at Fort Benjamin Harrison where she met the love of her life, Richard Hypes. They were married on June 16, 1956 and later moved to Zionsville, a small country town at that time. Her husband of over 64 years survives her. She is also survived by her daughter, Barbara (Terry) Hypes; son, Bret (Boni) Hypes; and son, James (Kristine) Hypes. Her son, Kevin Hypes, preceded her in death and is survived by his spouse Rhonda. Nancy was the proud grandmother of 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, sewing of all kinds including knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint, craft projects, and, of course, shopping. She volunteered at the Zionsville Christian Church donating many of her handmade items to their annual Christmas bazaar. Nancy never let her MS diagnosis at the age of 35 keep her from living her best life. She later turned to other activities such as swimming in order to remain active well into her 80's. In her earlier years Dick and Nancy both enjoyed traveling and cruising together. Nancy was a quiet, unassuming woman with a lot of friends. She loved spending time with them at the Zionsville American Legion or game room in Punta Gorda, Florida playing cards, dominoes, bingo or other board games. Throughout her entire journey, her loyal and faithful husband remained by her side providing for her and taking care of her every step of the way. She was loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed. A private, family ceremony will be held. Donations in her honor may be made to the Zionsville American Legion, 9950 E 600 South, Zionsville, IN 46077, Zionsville Christian Church, 120 N 9th St, Zionsville, IN Multiple Sclerosis, or The Restoracy of Whitestown,

Dear Jimmy , I can remember your mom all the way back to elementary school ,long before I moved to the house on Lafayette Rd. She was sweet and funny! my favorite thing I remember was when she dipped cotton balls in chocolate for April Fools day. She is an inspiration to me. I have MD and I never saw her MS get her down. Bob and I are so saddened to hear that Nancy is no longer with us. We extend heartfelt hugs to Dick, Barbara and the rest of the Hypes family. Not only was Nancy’s loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she was an inspirational neighbor and Florida friend! She always had a smile as she zipped about and when she was in the pool with us. May our fond memories of this exceptional person, Nancy, comfort and sustain us all. May she Rest In Peace.
