Patricia Templin Obituary

Patricia A. Templin

66, of Carmel, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 in Indianapolis. She was born to the late Kenneth Cook and Mary (Betty) Shattuck on October 4, 1947 in Franklin, IN.

She attended Indiana University in Bloomington and is the former Director of the Hoosier Salon. Patricia served on the Board of Indiana Heritage Art as well as the Board of the Indianapolis Athletic Club Foundation which held a large collection of historically important Indiana artwork. She was also very active in the Broad Ripple Village Association in the 90's.

Using her experience and knowledge of non-profit organizations, grant-writing and marketing, she was instrumental in establishing many non-profit organizations, including Plein-Air Painters Association. Pat was also influential in assisting George and Peggy Rapp in organizing the inaugural First Brush of Spring Plein-Air Paint-Out in New Harmony, IN.

She organized many art and fund raising events, curated large exhibitions of Historic Indiana Art, and juried several Indiana Art Competitions. When she retired and began to do her own artwork again, it was accepted in several Indiana State Fair professional exhibits, Annual Madison Art Shows, and "Open Spaces: Art about the Land," winning multiple awards and ribbons.

Pat is survived by two sisters, Debbie Cook-Mehdiyoun and Jamie Shattuck-Featherstone; one niece, Nikki Mehdiyoun; two nephews, Dustin Featherstone and Bijan Mehdiyoun "whom were the loves of her life"; and her cousin, Donna Ritchie, "who was like a sister."

There will be a Celebration of Life held at Knights of Columbus on Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. located at 2100 E. 71st St. Indianapolis, IN 26220.

Debbie, I was so sorry to read of Patsy's passing in the Daily Journal. She was an extremely important part of my young adulthood. Remember our apartment on Jefferson Street?
