Indianapolis - A Christian and kindhearted man died on August 8th, 2018. All who knew him, loved him, and who's lives were enriched by him, will morn his loss. Paul J. Elsbury was born on November 16, 1924 in Morgan County, Indiana, the son of the late Paul E. Elsbury and Ethyl (Elsbury) Prather.

A graduate of Kings Point Military Academy, he served his country as a Merchant Marine in World War II. Following the war, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish several successful heating and electrical companies from which he retired at age 92.

He was a longtime member of One Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Thelma Elsbury, and his sister Virginia Vest. He is survived by his daughters, Linda Herrmann and Paula Sheehan, grandsons Christopher (Jennifer) Herrmann, and Ryan Wilson, great granddaughter Sydney Herrmann, sister Marjorie Collett, and brother Robert Prather (Patricia).

The family would like to specially recognize his beloved Memory Sidebottom and her family, whom Paul deeply loved and with whom he cherished his time.

The family also appreciates the loving care provided by the Greenwood Meadows staff during his stay.

Visitation will be held from 10:30am-12:30pm on Monday, August 13th at One Christian Church, 2901 E. Banta Rd, Indianapolis, followed by the funeral service there at 12:30pm.
