Wallace Lee Obituary
Wallace "Wally, W.O." Orison Lee 83, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on April 18th in Ft. Myers, Florida. Wally was born January 8, 1927 in Indianapolis to the late Wallace Orison and Faye E. Springer Lee. He attended IPS School #70, Park School, Naval Academy Prep School, University of Arizona, Butler University, graduated from the University of Missouri with a BS in Business Administration and served in the Navy for 3 years. He was a member of the Alpha Kappa Psi Honorary Business Fraternity and Phi Delta Theta Social Fraternity. At his graduation from Missouri, he and Joan had the privilege of a personal meeting with commencement speaker and then President Harry S. Truman. Wally began his career at L.S. Ayres in the Management Training Program. Wally founded Vend-O-Whiz Company in Indianapolis which later became ARAMARK. Wally worked for ARA for 37 years serving the entire Midwest territory. During his tenure with ARA he received multiple Distinguish Salesmanship Awards and in 1996 ARA established the "WALLACE LEE" Sales Award. Wally retired from ARA in 1997. Wally was a past president of the Fathers Association at Broad Ripple High School, a board member of the Riviera Club, Union Federal Bank, Riverview Hospital Memorial Foundation, Columbia Club, Indianapolis Athletic Club, American Saddlebred Assoc. and the Commonwealth of Kentucky commissioned him a "Kentucky Colonel" in 1979. Wally was a member of the Boy Scouts of America where he attained Eagle Scout. The city of Indianapolis proclaimed "Wallace Lee Day" on August 7, 1985. He was a past member of Myerlee Country Club in Ft. Myers, Harbour Trees Golf Club in Noblesville, and Mohawk Hills Golf Club in Carmel. He was a deacon and member of Northwood Christian Church, First Christian Church of Noblesville and Ft. Myers Christian Church. Wallace is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 60 years, Joan Geisendorff Lee; his 4 daughters, Kathryn (Stephen) Fickert, Holly (David) Andress, Susan (Stephen) Hagopian, Joni (Monte) Monserez; 11 grandchildren, Erin (Josh) Rowland, Sgt. Michael (Heather) Fickert, Matthew (Autumn) Andress, Megan Andress, Molly Andress, Mark Andress, Andrew Hagopian, Elizabeth Hagopian, Stephen Hagopian, Meredith Monserez and Mathew Monserez; 3 great-grandchildren, Jackson and Luke Rowland, Reagan Fickert; one sister, Nancy (Robert) Hadley; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Luana Lee and Mary Clinkscales. W.O. had a lust for life always enjoying a good game of golf or a boat ride on the lake, but most of all he valued and treasured his family. Funeral services for Wallace O. Lee will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 1st at Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel, Indianapolis, with calling on Friday, April 30th from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ft. Myers Christian Church, Boy Scouts of America, Cancer Free Lungs or the charity of choice.
