Norman Hartley Obituary

Norman J. Hartley 91, Indianapolis, passed away October 10, 2004. He was born January 31, 1913 in Hartford City, IN to Eli Harve and Leota Mae Peck Hartley. Norman graduated from Eaton High School and married Jessie L. Chrich June 29, 1938, and she preceded him in death January 11, 2001. He was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran, serving in WWII. Mr. Hartley worked as a Supervisor for Herff-Jones for 44 years. After retiring from Herff-Jones in 1978, he was a Shaklee business owner for 25 years. Norman was a member of Castleton Baptist Church and the Scottish Rite. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 23 at 2:30 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Rd. Norman is survived by his daughters, Norlin K. Opre, Sharon L. Payne; grandchildren, Thomas A. Opre (Leslie), Bill H. Opre (Marti); Valerie Payne Custudio (Mark); great-grandchildren, Madison, Ryan, and Kate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor's charity of choice.
