Brenda Kay Light

Aged 57, mother of Keith Light, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014 after an extended illness. The daughter of Jerry (deceased) and Bonnie Wright, Brenda was born in Linton, Indiana on August 29, 1956. A long-time resident of Indianapolis, Brenda graduated from John Marshall High School in 1974. In December of 1990, she married David C. Light, who preceded her in death on August 21, 1996. Brenda was employed as a legal secretary and last worked for the Washington Township Schools. Her real life's work, however, was devoted advocating and caring for her son, Keith. Brenda fought tenaciously to ensure that her son had the highest quality of life possible. Described by friends as "kind," "strong," and "generous," Brenda faced adversity with optimism. She most valued time spent with family, friends, and neighbors. She is survived by her son; mother, Bonnie Wright; sister, Beth Bennett (Richard); brother, John Wright; step-son, Christopher Light (Kathlene); grandchildren Joey and Hailey Light; and nephews, Ryan Bennett (Sarah) and Ross Bennett (Lindsey). In addition, Brenda is survived by sisters-in-law, Marcia Fidler (Glenn), Marianne Townley (Steve), and Beth Link (David); and brothers-in-law Keith Light (Sue) and Doug Light; and 17 more nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her entire family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation checks may be made payable to the Trust for the Benefit of Keith G. Light dtd 5/24/14 in care of Beth Bennett, 10790 West Awbrey Road, Quincy IN 47456. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lep pert Mortuary and Crematory, Nora Chapel . You may visit to sign the guestbook or leave a condolence for the family. Private graveside services will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery on Friday, June 13. There will be a celebration of life at the Knights of Columbus, 2100 E. 71st Street at 5:30 p.m. on June 13.
