Paula Baumgartner Gable

She was the daughter of the late Paul C. and Pauline Baumgartner. Although born in Lenoire, North Carolina, Paula always considered Indianapolis as her home town. She went to John Strange Grade School, Broad Ripple High School and was graduated from Butler University where she was homecoming queen in 1954 with a degree in secondary education. At Butler, she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

Paula taught high school Spanish and English in Chicago and Indianapolis. She later was an administrative assistant to the president at Pierson-Hollowell Company.

She was a member of the Children's Museum Guild, serving as president. Paula was also a member of the Junior League of Indianapolis. In addition, she was on the Butler University Alumni Board of Directors, serving as president, and was on the Butler University Board of Trustees as a representative from the Alumni Association for one year.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, James; two sons, David (wife Callie) and Paul (wife Barbara); five grandchildren: Meredith, Ella, Reese, Joe, and Will; along with her brother-in-law, Dr. Richard Gillis.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at The Great Hall at Washington Park North Cemetery with visitation from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2012 in the Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel.
