Kaywood "Woody" Van Note

68, Indianapolis, passed away August 13, 2012. He was born October 14, 1943 in Indianapolis to the late Kaywood Van Note, Sr. and Savannah Burke Van Note. He married Dorothy Stephan Allen on September 9, 1984 in Indianapolis and she survives. Other survivors include his sons Woody Van Note of Indianapolis, Kevin (Kasey) Van Note of Muncie, William (Lori) Allen of Lebanon, and Christopher Allen of Greenwood; daughter Christa Michele (Brad) Orange of New Whiteland; and 11 grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his sisters Carolyn Sue Van Note and Wanda Barnes. Woody was a 1961 Graduate of Howe High School, he then served in the US Navy overseas, and later started a career as a lithographer. He was President of GCUI Local 303 until he retired. He also was a retired reserve Marion County Sheriff's Deputy and reserve officer for the Southport Police Department. He was a member of the Murat Shrine Temple, Indianapolis Valley of Scottish Rite and Wayne Guthrie Masonic Lodge. He was an avid Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning fan. His other interests were woodworking, scuba diving, karate, water skiing and fishing. Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 17 in Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center , with visitation from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 16 at the mortuary. A Masonic service will be 7:30 p.m., Thursday evening at the mortuary. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. http://www.singletonmortuary.com
