William B. Elliott

85, of Lawrence, passed away April 3, 2013. He was born May 10, 1927 in Nasby, Virginia to the late James F. and Nannie Ethel Hensley Elliott.

He served his country in the U. S. Army Air Corp and in the U. S. Marines. William married Hazel Irene Salyer, June 15, 1953.

William was a member of Hope Baptist Church and the American Legion, Post #495. He was an avid gardener, loved music of all types from classical to Johnny Cash, but most of all, he especially loved his family.

Visitation will be Saturday April 6, 2013, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Fishers- Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Rd.

William is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Hazel Irene Elliott; his devoted children, Wanda E. Shelly, William D. Elliott, and Teresa K. (Bill) Smith; a sister, Frances D. Harper; four grandchildren, Lucy E. Shelly, Amanda L. Shelly, Ryan C. Clingler and Miriam N. Smith.

A son, James R. Elliott; a son-in-law, Philip M. Shelly; and several brothers and sisters, preceded William in death.
