Robert Sanders Coble

79, of Indianapolis, passed away January 14, 2014. He was born March 30, 1934 in Nashville, TN, to the late R.T. and Ruby (Sanders) Coble.

A life-long educator, Bob began his teaching career at Franklin Community High School and then taught Math and Computer Science at Warren Central High School from 1967 until 1995. As a teacher, he was known for his patience and his ability to work with students who struggled to understand mathematical concepts. He served as a coach for the junior high swim team, worked as the official scorer for the IHSAA state swimming championships, and helped with the Warren Central High School athletic programs.

Beyond teaching, Bob enjoyed camping trips with family and friends, leading long hikes, watching old movies, meals out with friends, playing golf, and traveling. He was a member of Franklin Central Christian Church where he served in many leadership positions, and he was loved for asking probing questions. Bob was an avid Colts fans and enjoyed attending games as a long-time season ticket holder.

Bob was a graduate of Charlestown High School, IN. He received his Bachelors Degree from Franklin College and his Masters Degree from Indiana University. Bob married his college sweetheart, Marjorie Reasoner, in 1959 and enjoyed a rich and prosperous marriage.

Visitation will be Friday, January 17, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel , 9606 E. Washington St. with funeral services Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Franklin Central Christian Church, 4100 S. Franklin Rd. There also will be calling at the church at 10:00 am before the service.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Marge Coble; sons, Robert S., II, (Heather) of Alexandria, VA and Christopher (Cindy) Coble of Indianapolis; granddaughters, Rebekah, Hannah, Chandler and Avery Coble; and a brother James William Coble of Freeport, NY.
