Robert "Bob" Kilgore

90, of Westfield, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. He was born on May 2, 1924 to Francis and Theresa (Yehl) Kilgore in Kansas City, Missouri.

Bob graduated from DeLaSalle High School, received his undergraduate degree from Rockhurst University in 1950, and his Master's Degree in 1953 from the University of Missouri. Bob proudly served his country over a 26 year period as a major in the United States Air Force during World War II and the Korean War as a pilot and flight instructor. In 1958, he began working for Western Electric, and later became Director of Engineering with AT&T in Singapore. Bob was an avid amateur radio enthusiast and spent many hours researching his ancestry. His family fondly refers to him as "the fixer" because he could repair anything.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margaret (O'Neill) Kilgore; son, Tim (Janine) Kilgore; daughter, Kathy (Ed) Elliott; six grandchildren, Christine (Alex) Smith, Jennifer (Paul) Halpainy, Kaitlin (Spencer) Fields, Jackie Elliott, Theresa Kilgore, and Stephen Kilgore and three great-grandchildren, Penelope June Halpainy, Annabelle Elliott Smith, and Ryan Austin Fields.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by one sister and 3 brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2014 in St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 17102 Springmill Road, in Westfield, with Rev. Kevin Haines officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, September 5, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Randall & Roberts Funeral Center , 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville. Entombment will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery in Indianapolis, with military rites to follow.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Adoration Chapel/Bell Tower Building Fund, c/o St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 17102 Springmill Road, Westfield, IN 46074.
