Julianna G. Lapadat

Julianna Grace Lapadat

Loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Julie lived life to the fullest, brought joy to everyone she touched, and was called by the loving hand of God sooner than we had wished.

A 1981 graduate of Cardinal Ritter High School, Julie joined the U.S. Army later that year and served as a military policeman. She became an Indianapolis Police Department officer in 1986 and served her community for 28 years, including several years as a canine officer. She was featured in an episode of Women & the Badge by the Oxygen Network in 2003 and received a Certificate of Commendation for her services in 2013.

Julie is survived by sons, Michael and Matthew; parents, Arthur and Angela Lapadat; siblings, David, Mary (Tapolsky), Michael, Nicholas, Andrew, Stephen, Elizabeth and Sarah (Romeril); 16 nieces and nephews; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; many close friends; and colleagues at the I.M.P.D.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (7243 E. 10th Street) followed by a Celebration of Life at the Fraternal Order of Police Local 86 (1525 S. Shelby Street) beginning at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael and Matthew Lapadat Education Fund, C/O the Professional Police Officers Credit Union at 1502 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46201. Condolences may be offered at http://www.feeneyhornakshadeland.com. Arrangements: Feeney- Hornak Keystone Mortuary.
