Robert Dittus Obituary
Indianapolis - 93, passed away December 9, 2017. Born September 28, 1924 in Mt. Pulaski, IL, to the late Karl and Esther Dittus, Bob was an excellent athlete and baseball pitcher, attended Millikin University, was a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity and then proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII, earning an EAME Ribbon with six bronze stars. In 1945, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Alice Buckles (they being the leading lady and leading man in their high school junior and senior plays) and began his career in insurance. He initially retired in 1985 as Executive Vice President of Statesman Insurance Co. and thereafter led two other insurance companies and worked at Target until he was 85. He was a member of the John Purdue Club for 34 years and served on the Purdue Council. He was a longtime member of Christ the Savior Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Rd.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Mary Alice Dittus; children, Lynne (David) Magee, Robert (Rebecca) Dittus and Barbara (Rex) Cooper Wiseman; brother, Bill Dittus; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. www.shirleybrothers.com.
