JONATHAN GRIFE Obituary
DR. JONATHAN E., 56, suddenly passed away on September 16, 2016. Philadelphia born and raised, Jon earned his medical degree at Temple U, then served the Frederick, Maryland community as a caring surgeon for over 20 years. He is survived by wife, Kathleen; sons, Ian and Brendan; father, Manuel; brothers, Saul and David.
Memorial Services and Shiva were private. Contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Dr. Grife was a woundful surgeon. I had many surgeries that he preformed and wouldn't want any other doctor! He will be missed!

To the family of Dr.Grife _ We just learned of ' big Dr Jons ' passing and wanted to pay our respects to his memory and express our heartfelt gratitude for his wonderful care and the caring he gave to us during Garys 21 day stay in FMH. He was a wonderful doctor, kind, calming, plain spoken with information, funny and light hearted and all the while very professional. We are so very sad and sorry for your loss and want you to know we share it with you.

I have just learned of my friends passing. I am in shock and disbelief. I have known Jon since he was a resident and have been trying to text him. I don't even know what to say. He was such a gentle soul and a kind person. I know for sure he is in heaven. A truly wonderful person.

I just received the news of Dr. Grife's passing. I was a patient of his in 2012. He was the kindest doctor I have ever known. My heart goes out to his family.

So many fond memories of working with Jon in the OR at Frederick Memorial Hospital. As an OR nurse, I was always happy to see that he had a case in my room. Our deepest sympathy for my buddy Jonny and his family. I am known Jon for over 30 years. We stayed in touch once he left Philly. I was his accountant but we were also friends. The man had a heart of gold. Marched to the beat of his own drum. If everyone in the world had the heart of Jonny this world would be a much better place. Jon was a very special person. He loved everybody. Only the good die young. Very true in this case. Yesterday was a very sad day for me. I will miss him. We talked pretty often. Even though I am not family I feel a tremendous sense of loss.

I am so terribly saddened to hear of the passing of Jonathan! He would light up a room when he entered! I worked with him @ Episcopal Hosp, when he was a resident, times were rough with the director of surgery but when Jon came into the office we all had fun and laughs, made u forget about the problems of the day! Dr. Grife performed emergency surgery in 2007 that saved my wife's life. He was and exceptional Doctor & Surgeon, with a wonderful attitude that helped so many of his patients. We want to express our sincere appreciation and condolences to your entire family.
