Rick, I'll never forget Ya!
I just heard about Rick passing away this weekend. I was blown away when I heard this. Rick helped my band Invid in the early 90's to get some shows. It was always great to talk to him at the firenze and then onto Nicks and finally Tritone. Rick, I'll miss ya! Thanks for all that you did for me!

He was always great to me. I played in a band
that indeed, "couldn't draw a picture in this town", but Rick liked us and booked us anyway.
Thanks, Rick.

Rick, you were like a big brother to me over most of the 17 years that I've known you.
I wouldn't be the man that I am today if it weren't for you taking in a complete screw up and helping him grow. god, your pateince with me was sorely tested over the year and I hope I've made you proud.
I'm glad that I got to re-connect with you these last two month at least but your passing will never stop hurting me.
I love you rick.
god I can even here the joke you would have made at that statement in my head...
you are already badly missed, my friend.
my major regret of our friendship is that you didn't get a chacne to meet my daughter Julia Rose before you left..
you were my mentor, you were my friend and I thank you for each and every day that we were able to spend together.

Rick showed me what real friendship means. He truely gave his heart, time and attention to so many people. Including me. He knew how to make a person feel special, that's what made him special.
I will always miss Rick.
This world has lost a good soul.
This town has just lost a lot of it's heart.

I met Rick in the mid-nineties when I was playing in bands whose names cause a heated flush of embarrassment now. But from the Firenze to Upstairs at Nick's through to his reign at Tritone, Rick exuded a wonderfully warm and placid presence that was an ironic perfect match with his wry sense of humor. Even though in the past few years I only saw him infrequently, he always welcomed me with an earnest hug and kiss, communicating without words that our minor involvement as band booker and band member existed on a heartfelt level for him. My condolences to his family and loved ones; Rick will be deeply missed amongst us Philly musicians whom he sponsored with such zest and loyalty.

I knew Rick for a few years in the early 90’s during my time playing with the Evil Twins. Even after all these years, I remember his humor & some of his strong opinions still bring a smile to my face. His passion for music and devotion to local bands was unforgettable. I’m saddened to hear of his early passing & my deepest condolences go out to his family.

Rick D. truly was a staple in Philly. He was also always a friendly face with a handshake available that I was was always glad to see.
From first meeting him at Dobbs, his letting my age slide at the Firenze :), his tone/delivery in conversation and that unmatched loyalty to an outfit, he'll always be remembered ;).
Cheers Rick.
His is a loss not only to those that have known him, but to this entire city as well.
My condolences to his family and friends. He was a pal. God bless.

I don't know how we're going to carry on without you. It hit me tonight, there are no more late Tuesday nights. No more "you gotta here this". Just no more. Just felt weird and wrong tonight without you.
You left your imprint on everyone around you. And that stinkin' bottle of Jaeger ...

Rick always looked out for me when I lived beside Tritone and always made me and my friends feel so welcome every night of the week (literally, it was often every night of the week) I'll miss the random run ins around the neighborhood, and the many chats outside the bar. I'm still in shock. You will be missed so dearly.

Rick
was definitely a force to be reckoned with. In my days with him, in the late
80's, he was smart and cynical and definitely not a wallflower. He managed to
continue that, without mellowing, for twenty more years. Nobody ever
met
Rick and forgot him. I surely won't. He's left a positve mark on the
world
and the people that have known him. I miss him already.
My thoughts
are
very much with his family.

A very cool friend as well as someone who did so much for the Philly music scene. He was always the champion of the little guy trying to be heard. We could use a lot more people like Rick in this world, and he'll be sorely missed.

FIRST, heartfelt condolences to Rick's family (& friends). having just lost a brother (2/28 @44), Rick's news has put a 'glaze' over us.
many a nite we stayed up after hours–into the morning light–at La Tazza 108 in Old City after Upstairs@Nick's closed. in fact, our very last nite, rick was there & we did that ritual one last time. rick would go on to say "now, with la tazza closing, there no reason to go to old city anymore".
we loved rick's quik wit followed by his hearty laugh. tho cynical–which philly WILL do to ya–we knew he was a very warm soul & we luved him. discussing our ties w/ the music scene, similar businesses & philly 'politics', we had a lot to talk about. besides those things, he did mention his family too.
a quik story that still makes me laugh, sticks in my head. me, rick & "joe" (name changed) are talking. i say,
'hey joe, nice haircut'. (i sorta mean it)
"Joe": 'thnx, i cut it myself'.
rick: 'no kidding, coulda never guessed that'.
"angels" are wearing black leather vests right now…
sincerely,
frank (& tammy) sparacino
