DR. CARL ANSELL LEVINSON, 81, originally of Philadelphia, a man of great intellect and boundless passion for life, died February 11th in Marin County, California. His father, Max Levinson was a prominent Philadelphia businessman, founder of Merit Oil Company. Dr. Levinson attended Friends Central School, served as an engineer in the U.S. Navy, and graduated from Swarthmore College. He received his Ph.D. in Physics from Columbia University. At age 28 he was made Professor of Physics at Princeton University where he worked on the frontiers of theoretical physics. Carl is survived by brother Arthur; children Charlotte, Rachel, Edward, Gordon, and Julian, and 9 grandchildren. Memorial service to be held 2 P.M. April 13th in the Chapel at Reform Congregation Rodeph Shalom, 615 North Broad Street, Philadelphia.
