IRV SEGAL Obituary

SEGAL
IRV, On February 3, 2015, of Warminster, PA, formerly of Elkins Park, PA. Beloved husband of Zipporah B. (nee Bram) Segal. Devoted father of Tali (David Glatter) Segal, Ari (Abby) Segal and Doron (Jennifer) Segal; Loving Saba (grandfather) of Aliza, Aaron, Zachary, Jake, Samantha, Jordyn and Jason. Irv shared 55 years of marriage with his adoring wife Zipporah. Their devotion to each other was evident in everything they did, from raising their children, to supporting each others' career endeavors and returns to academia for multiple advanced degrees. He changed the lives of so many, starting socialization programs for persons with special needs 50 years ago, at a time when no one else was doing this. He went on to start the premier travel program for persons with special needs, The Guided Tour, Inc., believing that travel is therapeutic and a way for all to grow. He encouraged his children and grandchildren to expand their horizons as well. He was a social person who still counted childhood friends among those closest to him, but his favorite way to spend his time was to surround himself with his family, talking, eating, gardening or singing operettas together. Relatives and friends are invited to Services, Thursday 11:30 A.M., JOSEPH LEVINE AND SONS MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 4737 Street Road, Trevose. Interment King David Memorial Park. The family will be returning to the residence of Ari and Abby Segal, Thursday and at the residence of Doron and Jennifer Segal, Saturday and Sunday. Contributions in his memory may be made to either to Jewish Foundation for the Righteous, 305 7th Avenue, 19th Floor, New York, NY 10001 https://jfr.org/make-a-gift/ or Abington Health Foundation, 1200 Old York Rd. Zipporah & family, I just stumbled on the obituary checking "The Guided Tour" situation.
Dear Zipporah...I want you to know that You and Irv (my "USA family") together with my other "life mentor" , our common friend John Noisette, will always be in my heart...certain words, names , activities with special populations always trigger the fond memories that I will cherish forever.

Dear Zipporah & children,
It seems literally a lifetime ago since our daughters attended Gratz together & you & Irv were among the busiest young couples we knew. If ever a man perfectly suited his life's work -- it was Irv. The good he did for so many needy, the gratitude he earned & the sterling reputation he leaves behind --these will live on in the hearts & minds of all who were privileged to know him. May his memory be a blessing to you his beloved life's partner, & to his precious children & grandchildren -- always.
In deepest sympathy,
Joseph & Doris Levine

It is clear from this moving obituary that he had a wonderful impact on this world and on his children, one of whom I am so honored to call friend.
