DR. RICHARD E., May 5, 2015. Husband of Arlene (nee Levin); father of Howard (Allyson) Goldberg, Kenneth (Elissa) Goldberg and David (Maria) Goldberg; brother of Victor (Marilyn) Goldberg; grandfather of Adele, Audrey, Alexandra, Brooke and Paige. Relatives and friends are invited to Funeral Services Fri., 11 A.M. precisely, GOLDSTEINS' ROSENBERG'S RAPHAEL SACKS SUBURBAN NORTH, 310 Second St. Pike, Southampton. Int. Roosevelt Memorial Park. Shiva will be observed at the late residence. Contributions can be made in Richard's honor to a fund created in his name at Ursinus College: "The Richard Goldberg '58 Student Art Award Fund" Ursinus College, Berman Museum of Art, 601 E. Main St., Collegeville PA 19426 or via www.ursinus.edu/makegift.

Dr. Goldberg was a person who was a prominent mentor during my life in my 20´s & 30´s. He was my mom´s doctor, my employer & a good friend. He treated his crew like family. I learned a lot about life & serving others through his actions. He is greatly missed.

Anita and I were shocked to hear of Richard's death. I have known and admired him since our student days at Jefferson. He was truly an all around, compassionate Ophthalmologist and quite an accomplished artist. anita and I saw his show at Widener and viewed the aesthetic side of his personality. Dick was simply "the best" in so many categories. It was a distinct treasured honor to have known and interacted with such a fine doctor and all around human being. He lives on in my mind and so many others.

Hello. Just heard and stopped me in my tracks last night as I exited the Plastic Club after drawing session. Dick was a fellow artist and perpetually encouraging me. I lectured and curated for him; delving into notions of color, perception, awareness, light. He was ever gracious, happy, and quick with heartfelt compliments. And shall remain a living presence with me in my work, life, art. With love, Rick Wright.

I was so sad to hear about Dr. Goldberg's passing. He was an amazing man and played a big part in my live. My path in life was gently guided by Dr. Goldberg and Arlene. I often talk about the funny things that happened at our office at 1333 Buck Road. I feel blessed that Dr. Goldberg also treated/followed my mom, Theresa Mayhew. Dear Arlene and family,
I was saddened to hear that Dick had passed. He will be missed! We had a very unique relationship and it was my honor to know him. I think fondly of the times we spent on the phone him dictating letters and emails that I would send out for him when he decided to retire and follow his heart with Art.

The world of medicine, the world of art, and the world of humane and loving human beings have suffered a tremendous loss. Dick was a model of intelligence, insight, generosity and gentleness. Many of us owe the paths we are on to his and Arlene's loving mentorship. We will miss him terribly. Arlene, we send you our deepest condolences.

Dr. G was a true friend with a kind heart and soul. His soft spoken voice and kind words always made me feel special. I will miss sending emails for him, talking to him on the phone, discussing art, meeting him at Starbucks, seeing him come into cutpaste to make copies or have a picture of one of his granddaughters laminated. Words cannot describe how special he was to me and to every life he touched. His light will forever shine in all the lives he touched.
