Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. In those most difficult moments in life God provides us with family and friends to give us comfort, strength,and encouragement which continuously reflect his mercy and grace on us. May you know how truly sorry we were to hear of the loss of your father.

Oh the memories I have of my Granpop!! They have and will always bring a smile to my face. I remember the nickname that Granpop (and my dad) call me sometimes, Joanny-Banany. I remember my summers "down the shore" as a child. The anticipation and excitement of riding in the car, waiting to get to 22nd St. to see Granmom and Granpop. It always seemed to take SO long just to be able to jump out of the car and run into the house yelling "We're here!" and shower them with hugs and kisses. The long days at the beach were some of the best ever. Granpop throwing me up into the big approaching waves, me screeching with absolute delight, and begging "Do it again!" Granpop and I playing hoops and him showing me how to perfect my jumpshot. I remember waking up one morning cranky and Granpop saying "SOMEONE woke up on the wrong side of the bed!" Being quite confused, I replied "But I always wake up on that side of the bed". He had a good laugh at that. I remember being much older and going to spend one night at the shore. When I arrived my windshield was smashed; a seagull had crashed into it. I ran into the house very upset that I had hurt a bird. Granmom and Granpop (and Aunt Mary and Aunt Pat) were just relieved I wasn't hurt. They all probably said something like "Damn bird!". It WAS pretty funny. I remember listening to any one of Granpop's stories (from his childhood, to his love of basketball, to the fire department, to the Roman reunions, to everything he ever saw) and wishing I could tell a story like that. I remember Granmom and Granpop and their cups of hot tea. :O) The twinkle in Granpop's bluest eyes every single time he smiled and laughed. And I remember one of our last great conversations. It was last year and I asked his advice on meeting fellas. He told me to wait for a good one, one that makes me happy and has a good heart. Knowing how special and enduring Granmom and Granpop's relationship was, I think I'll take his wise advice. Granpop, thanks for loving me and giving me such a super family, for sharing your love and your life with the world. You've made this world a better one for all of us. I don't think I could ask for more.
I love you and miss you...

This poem describes my granpop perfectly...
Success by Bessie Anderson Stanley
He has achieved success
who has lived well,
laughed often, and loved much;
who has enjoyed the trust of
pure women,
the respect of intelligent men and
the love of little children;
who has filled his niche and accomplished his task;
who has left the world better than he found it
whether by an improved poppy,
a perfect poem or a rescued soul;
who has never lacked appreciation of Earth's beauty
or failed to express it;
who has always looked for the best in others and
given them the best he had;
whose life was an inspiration;
whose memory a benediction.
