It is with heavy hearts, yet thankfulness for a life well-lived and shared, that we announce the peaceful passing of Christel at Forest Hill Long Term Care Home in Kanata on March 8, 2021. She was born on January 4, 1931 in Cologne, Germany and moved to Canada in 1957 as a newlywed. Christel was the beloved wife of Josef Rick (married 64 years), cherished mother of George (Sue), Ralph (Joanne) and Peter (Michele). Much loved Oma to April, Kayleigh, Gillian, Joey, Emily and John. She is fondly remembered by her cousin Helga Plemper, her sisters-in-law, Gisela and Rosemarie and her brother-in-law Willie, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother and caring friend. Christel's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She enjoyed meeting new people and warmly welcomed everyone into her home. Her deep devotion to her faith was a guiding light in her life. Christel was an active member of the Catholic Women's League and enjoyed singing in the church choir. A hardworking, astute businesswoman, she, her husband and sons built a successful business, 'Valley Caterers'. She enjoyed many hobbies such as knitting, ceramics, and crafting. She had a tremendous green thumb. In retirement, she loved to spend time with friends, playing bridge and traveling. We would like to thank the staff at Forest Hill for their hard work, dedication and kindness. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private Funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Parish in Braeside, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to L'Arche Arnprior. In the care of the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior. Condolence/Tributes/Donations pilonfamily.ca
