Phyllis M.Genzel (December 12th, 1923 - July 26, 2018) Phyllis Genzel 94, of Bluffton, South Carolina, passed away at NHC on Thursday July 26th, with her loving family at her side. She was born in Joliet, Illinois, to the late Ludwig and Mathilda Mueller, but grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina.Summers were spent at Myrtle Beach dancing and enjoying all outdoor sports which became her lifelong passion. Phyllis and her husband, the late Lawrence Genzel, moved to Sun City Hilton Head in 1996 from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Her zest for life and spunk were evident to everyone that met Phyllis. They loved her smile, her humor, and her instant friendship. She was happiest while ballroom dancing with her beloved husband Larry, impromptu dancing whenever familiar tunes were heard, golf and competitive card games. Her last wish was to still visit Las Vegas. Phyllis is survived by her two daughters: Gail Shaw (Ray) of Sun City Center, Florida, and Gwen Mead (Mike) of Bluffton, South Carolina, and three grandchildren: Sara Shaw of Brooksville, Florida, David Shaw, Clearwater, Florida and Jason Mead (Jenna)of Lexington Park, Maryland. She is also survived by 5 Great Grandchildren: Faith, Breanna, Matthew, Gabby, Mercy, and Max, plus many nieces and nephews as she was the last survivor from a family of 6.She has graciously donated her body to the "Gift of Life" program at the University of South Carolina, Columbia, School of Medicine for the advancement of medical education. A celebration of her life will be held at Riverbend (Sun City) clubhouse, Friday August 17, at 1:00 pm.
