US Marine Corps CW04 Frederick Bernard Gant Lady's Island, SC US Marine Corps CW04 Frederick Bernard Gant 50, of Lady's Island and husband of Paula Faye Gant, died Friday, July 6, 2018, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.He was born February 10, 1968, in Birmingham, Al, the son of Josie Lee Gant. He confessed Christ as his personal savior at an early age at Payne Chapel AME Church in Titusville, Al, under the leadership of the Reverend S. J. Davis. He was educated in the Birmingham City Schools where he attended Jackson Elementary and was a graduate of West End High School. He did further studies at Lawson State Community College and later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management from Park University. During this time, he met and married the love of his life, Paula Faye Roberts. This union of twenty-eight years was fulfilled with the births of two daughters, Jasmine Briana and Amber Nicole, both of whom he named. On September 5, 1989, Frederick took the first of many footsteps on the yellow footprints at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot on Parris Island and proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. During his military career, he received numerous medals, awards and citation and was most recently promoted to Chief Warrant Officer 4.He was preceded in death by his sister, Carlette Watson and grandmother, Elsie Blythewood.His memory will forever be cherished by his wife of twenty-eight years (soulmates for 32 years), Paula Gant; his daughters: Jasmine Gant and Amber Gant both of Columbia, SC; his grand cats, Beyonc‚ and Jay-Z; his mother, Josie Lee Gant of Birmingham, AL; his brother, Clarence Gant of Birmingham, AL; his aunt, Dannie Mae Watson; his uncle, Johnny Will (Emma Lou) Simmons all of Birmingham, AL; a special cousin (who was more like a sister) , Dannie Perry and her children, Kelsey, Ashley (LaShonda), Ryan and Brittany Perry all of Birmingham, AL; his Marine Corps family, his JTF buddies; a host of special cousins and friends that were very dear to his heart but too numerous to name.
