Peggy Edwards Mitchell

Peggy Edwards Mitchell, 91, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2025 at North Ms. Medical Center, Tupelo, MS. She was born in Mississippi to John Millard Edwards and Audra Jones Edwards. She was owner and operator of a delivery service for ten years and a member of Golden Central Baptist Church.

Services will be Wednesday, December 10, 2 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Bro. Jackie Hastings officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 10, 12-2 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by two daughters, Janet Allison (Mike) and Dana Hester (Steven); seven grandchildren, Brenn Mitchell, Emily Allison, Jason Allison (Shara), Justin Allison (Brittany), Alix Hester, Alaina Mathiasen (Jason) and Blake Hester (Morgan); thirteen great-grandchildren, Kaden Mitchell, Audra Mitchell, Victoria Burks (Camron), Harley Strickland, Jax Allison, Bentleigh Allison, Cayden Mitchell, Masen Wilemon, Kaleb Armstrong, Madison Taylor, Chance Hester and Rylie and Lucas Mathiasen; sister-in-law, Margaret Edwards and daughter-in-law, Janan Crowe.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Mitchell; great-granddaughter, Lacey Strickland; her parents; brothers, Millard Edwards and Tommy Edwards; sisters, Melba Looney, Patsy Bowlin and Yvonne Parker and son-in-law, Tony Allison.

Pallbearers will be Brenn Mitchell, Jason Allison, Justin Allison, Blake Hester, Cayden Mitchell and Masen Wilemon. Honorary pallbearers will be Harley Strickland, Jax Allison, Bentleigh Allison and Chance Hester.
