Joseph Palmisano
Joseph Palmisano of Upland, passed away at San Antonio Regional Hospital on Dec. 26, 2017. He was born Sept. 22, 1928 in the province of Bari, Italy. He came to the U.S. in 1947. He became a U.S. citizen and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In August of 1955 he married Helen Papajohn from Sioux City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents Saverio and Maria Palmisano, and his brother Pasquale. He is survived by his wife Helen of 62 years and 3 children; Anthony, Kathy (Steve Winter), and Anna (Joe Speer). 6 grandchildren; Sara Palmisano, Darin Winter, Kaitlin (Chad Sullivan), Molly Winter, Lisa and (Dale Sauter), Carli Speer, and great grandchild James Sauter and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was employed by the Chaffey Joint Union High School District as a maintenance supervisor for 33 years. He retired in 1991. His hobbies included wood-working, gardening and bowling. He was active in the community, working with the Boy Scout Troop 608. He served on election boards, Taco & Bingo nights at the Ontario Elks Lodge and various committees. He served as President of CSEA at Chaffey High School District, President of Sons of Columbus, President of Italian Catholic Federation. Past Exalted Ruler of the Ontario Elks Lodge and Scholarship chairman for many years. He was previously an usher at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Services for Joseph will take place on Monday, January 15, 2018 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Upland, 877 N. Campus Ave. Rosary at 9:30 a.m. Mass at 10:00 a.m. Immediately following will be a luncheon at the Ontario Elks Lodge located at 1150 W. 4th St., Ontario, CA. Interment will take place at Bellevue Mausoleum. Stone Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his memory to the Scholarship Fund of the Ontario Elks Lodge and the San Antonio Regional Hospital Foundation in Upland, 999 San Bernardino Road.
