Oscar J. Carrillo, 83, was born July 2, 1939, in Rayon, Sonora, Mexico. Son of Francisco B. Carrillo and Mercedes Jimenez. His family moved to Mexicali, where he met the love of his life, Carmen Zuniga. They married on February 12, 1961. He immigrated to Brawley, CA, where he worked as a farm laborer, then ultimately as a gardener for the Elmore Company, where he remained for over 50 years, a job he loved until an unexpected illness no longer let him work.
Oscar was a hard worker who always helped those around him. He made many friends through his family and his career. He had great morals, loved his family, and family get-togethers every weekend.
Oscar was called to heaven on April 29, 2023, as he was surrounded by his family. His wife of 62 years, Carmen; children, Oscar (Toni), Octavio (Paty), Minerva (Fernando), William (Christina), Alex (Sylvia); grandchildren; and great-grandchildren will miss him dearly.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023, from 6-9 pm at Frye Chapel & Mortuary, Brawley, CA, with a rosary at 7 pm. Mass will be on Friday, May 19, 2023, at 10 am at St. Margaret Mary Church in Brawley, CA, with burial immediately following at Riverview Cemetery, Brawley, CA.
