YOLANDA VASQUEZ Obituary

YOLANDA VASQUEZ

Jan. 15, 1945 – Sept. 5, 2024

Armida Yolanda Vasquez was born in Comedero, Sinaloa, on January 15, 1945. From the very beginning, her heart was full of love for her family and the world around her. She was the embodiment of strength and kindness, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Yolanda understood the importance of family from an early age, and she carried this value with her throughout her life.

On September 5, 2024, in Yuma, Arizona, after a sudden decline in health, Yolanda left this world at the age of 79. Though her passing came too soon for those who loved her and her legacy of love will continue to shine in the hearts of her family.

Yolanda lived her life selflessly, always putting the well-being and happiness of her children and loved ones first. In her final thoughts, she expressed how proud she was of her five children and grandchildren, each of whom brought her endless joy. Her greatest wish was for them to continue pursuing their dreams, finding success in their careers, and living lives filled with happiness and love.

Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where Yolanda brought people together through the meals she lovingly prepared. Nothing brought her more joy than cooking for her family and friends. Her tamales and champurrado, especially during the holidays, were traditions that will live on in the fond memories of all who knew her. Christmas time was always a special occasion, with her children by her side in an assembly line, helping her prepare tamales. Yolanda didn't just cook for the day she believed in making enough to feed her loved ones for weeks, sometimes months. Her home was always a place of comfort, where anyone could arrive at any time and be welcomed with a warm meal and a heart full of love.

Yolanda was preceded in death by her husband, Juan Vasquez. She is survived by her children, John, Bertha, Ricardo, Cergio, and Carlos. Her treasured grandchildren will carry her love with them for the rest of their lives. To them, she was not just a grandmother, but a source of endless support and guidance.

Yolanda's love and generosity were boundless, and though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will live on in every meal shared, every smile exchanged, and every kind word spoken. Her life was a testament to the power of love, and we will forever honor her by keeping that love alive in our own lives.

A viewing will be held at Hems Brothers Mortuary in El Centro on Thursday, October 3rd, from 6 to 9 p.m. A church service will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Holtville on Friday, October 4, at 9:30 a.m., where we will gather to celebrate the beautiful life of a woman who touched so many hearts.

Tomorrow is the birthday of my dear friend. When she worked for me, when she received flowers ,she was so happy that her children remembered her birthday since four of them didn't live in Imperial County.
This poem is for her.

I think of you so often
And wherever you may be,
I hope you know our friendship, meant the world to me.
For though you left this earthy life, you and I will always know,
That friendship never dies.
So thank you for the memories, that warm my heart each day,
And for those times I miss you so much,
Now you've gone away

My deepest condolences to the Vasquez Family.
I knew Yolanda professionally and personally.
I supervised Yolanda when working for Campesinos Unidos Head Start. For many years she made meals for 60 to 80 preschoolers. She was loved all her co-workers . Yolanda was a very respectful person.
As her friend it's my privilege to have known such a beautiful woman. She was a ray of sunshine, a very generous and loyal friend.
I will always remember her warm embrace, I will always carry her memory in my heart.
Eternal rest grant and perpetual
light shine upon her.
May you rest in peace Yolanda.
